'Three extraordinary playwrights. Three world premieres. One night only!

Join Playing On Air for a live recording of three short plays on the main stage of Playwrights Horizons. Witness theater as it morphs to radio and podcast--and help Playing On Air's mission to deliver high-quality theater to every American for free and on demand.

From a retirement home for Hollywood animated characters to the outskirts of activism, this year’s short plays tackle questions of fame, age, privilege, security and electric light. Artists for the evening include Bobby Cannavale, Tracee Chimo, Eisa Davis, Wendy Goldberg, Martha Plimpton, Jeremy Shamos. We’ll create an audio theater experience on the spot, ready for broadcast, complete with a talkback with the playwrights, actors, directors, moderated by our artistic producer, Claudia Catania.

This year’s short plays:
GUN SHOW by Pulitzer- and Tony-winner David Auburn (Proof)
WOKE by Leland Frankel
EVENING AT ANAHEIM by acclaimed New Yorker cartoonist James Stevenson
