B-Boy Blues: The Play

The 2013 Downtown Urban Theater Festival Audience Award Winner Returns!

Opposites do attract. Take Mitchell "Little Bit" Crawford, a 30-year-old Columbia university grad and journalist, and Raheim "Pooquie" Rivers, a 23-year-old homeboy from Harlem and high school dropout who is a messenger. When Middle Class Boy meets Working Class Boi, the attraction is palpable and explosive. Praised as the first gay hip hop love story, B-Boy Blues explores the complexity and celebrates the beauty of being both Black and gay in a society that still holds both identities in contempt, while challenging stereotypical notions of who gay men, Black men, and Black gay men are. And, it manages to do all of this while making the audience laugh out loud (and cry). This One Night Only Encore is part of the B-Boy Blues 20th Anniversary Celebration Weekend.
